Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to forego cooked food forever?

Through our own experimentation, I would recommend you don’t go 100% raw but rather approach this new way of life with a casual, observational approach – eat raw food – how does that make you feel? Eat some cooked food – how does that make you feel? Narrow it down and only eat the stuff that makes you feel vital, alive, energised and supports the digestive system. Remember you can have whatever you want, but just observe how your body feels about the different choices you make – are you cramping, constipated, bloated, awake when you should be asleep, then perhaps choose differently the next day, etc, until you find a balance for yourself.

Dining Out – is that a thing of the past?

Life is more than just food, to enjoy life we need to have friends, family and social connections – these often revolve around food, alcohol, coffee, tea, cakes etc. Keep things in perspective and try to keep a balance, you don’t want to be the person no-one can invite anywhere because of some strict puritan diet – relax and enjoy the food your friends make you with the love they intended. However, you might like to make a delicious pomegranate cheesecake for dessert (all vegan and raw, of course!) and bring it along for your non-Raw friends to eat and adore.

How do I Get Started?

Our advice is to start on your raw journey by incorporating much more greens into your diet, in the form of Green Smoothies and Green Juices – this might see you being 35% raw in your first week – how exciting! You know in your heart of hearts that fruits and vegetables are good for you, so just slip a few of each into your day (raw of course) and slowly that percentage will grow.

Slowly, add more and more raw foods into your diet, soon enough, after experimentation and observation, you may end up about 80% raw – which will be your saving grace in terms of health, vitality, energy, clarity, weight stability, creativity, compassion, gentleness and many more benefits.

Does this mean no more hot food?

Raw doesn’t necessarily mean that the food hasn’t been heat treated – it just hasn’t been cooked in the traditional way. By using processes such as dehydrating, juicing, sprouting, blending and food processing it’s possible to eat an exciting and varied raw food diet, including chocolates, cakes, cookies, chili’s, curries, taco’s, creamy sauces – oh and also salads! You will love it and you may even attract some positive interest from your friends and family! We do not have a friend left that is on a 100% SAD Diet (Standard Australian Diet), every single one has adopted SOMETHING from this new way of living, it might just be the introduction of a green smoothie for breakfast – but that has the power to radically change the body.

Google Raw Foods

We are not nutritionists so what we’ve learnt is through our own research; start googling! There is so much more information out there about why raw food is nutritionally superior and suited to our bodies, and will give you much more information and insight than I can in this short introduction – I urge you to go out and read plenty of it. Plus, remember you are not me, and I am not you – you will want to create your own raw food journey with your own individual parameters, based on what you will and won’t eat, what you will and won’t do.
